Harrods

Harrods is the rich man’s answer to Walmart. London’s most famous department store traces its history back to 1834 when Henry Charles Harrods opened a tiny grocery store in London’s East End. Today the store stocks everything from food items and clothes to sporting goods and pets. Spread over 4.5 acres, Harrods is the largest departmental store in the world. The Food Hall and the seasonal Christmas department at the store are world famous.

No trip to London is complete without a visit to this venerable store - a symbol of upscale shopping. For those on a budget, the food stalls are a good way to collect Harrods branded memorabilia - a bottle of Heritage Lemon Curd will cost just £5.50 while a tin of Darjeeling tea will cost just under £10.
