Legionnaire’s Disease Being Investigated At Westin Hotel
Cases of Legionnaires disease are being investigated at The Westin Hotel following the recent death of one of its recent guests – BBC radio cricket scorer Bill Randall. The Dubai Municipality and Dubai Health Authority are carrying out the investigation at the hotel, where Bill Randall stayed two weeks ago.
The investigation was initiated following the disclosure that two additional Westin Hotel guests were infected with the bacterium, which can proliferate in air conditioning units
Westin’s parent company said in a statement that three recent visitors to the UAE who were guests at the hotel were diagnosed with Legionnaires disease. He added “no evidence of legionella has been found to date at the hotel based on initial testing by an independent accredited laboratory “.
