Dubai hotels perceived as being reasonably priced: study

altA study by the Hotel Price Barometer reveals that Dubai hotels are ranked 12th on the world’s most expensive hotels list with average nightly rates squaring off at €121 in February 2010. Moscow, said the study, tops the list with average nightly rates hitting €164.
While average room rates in Dubai went up by 22 per cent, they also recorded a 43 per cent decrease in the average hotel room rates in the world list. These findings somewhat complement the data released by Hotels.com last week which said that as worldwide hotel rates fell by 14 per cent, Dubai became the destination of choice for many tourists in 2009 as the hotel prices in Dubai were thought to be attractive and affordable.
The price barometer also reveals that nightly rates will stabilise soon based on the data received from more than four million hotel price requests made in February this year. “But in more than half the towns studied, the rates were above those achieved in the crisis February of 2009,” the report added, pointing out that prices have recovered in February which is a good sign.
