Dubai Will Bid For 2020 Olympic Games

Dubai has decided to bid for the 2020 Olympic Games and World Expo, boosting the moral of Dubai’s travel and tourism sector during this economic downturn.   The Dubai 2020 initiative was launched by His Highness Shiekh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Sunday.  Shiekh Al Maktoum is Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.  The 2020 program will focus on numerous sectors within Dubai and the UAE with the goal of improving social and economic progress in the region.

The travel and tourism sector would greatly benefit if Dubai’s bid to host the Olympics in 2020 is accepted.  The hospitality industry is gearing up for the opportunities the event would bring.  General Manager Hilton, Dubai Jumeirah Resort and Residence said Dubai 2020 gives Dubai’s ambitions of becoming a major global player a structured, more focused approach and undoubtedly gives Hilton the opportunity to deliver on the city’s promise of world class hospitality.”
