Banyan Tree Initiates Court Proceedings Against Meydan
and Resorts is taking legal action against race course developer Meydan, due to alleged various breaches of management contract at The Meydan and Banyan Tree hotels. The Singapore based luxury hotels group announced that it secured a contract to manage the two hotels in 2007, although neither hotel is currently operating.
Banyan Tree however, announced in a recent statement that it has launched arbitration proceedings against Meydan, and Jumeirah Group will help begin operations at The Meydan, which is set to open in March before the World Cup. The Meydan has 230 rooms and is located within the $2.7bn racecourse complex. The proposed 77 villa Banyan Tree Meydan resort will be based within the Meydan development.
