Tourism Expert Promotes Winter Tourism In Makkah

A tourism expert is promoting the potential for winter tourism in the province of Makkah and in the Kingdom in general.  Luay Qunaitah, chairman of the Tourism Promotion Committee at the Taif Chamber of Commerce and Industry said “Winter tourism is as important as summer tourism and will help the tourism industry thrive throughout the year.”

Qunaitah said the pleasant weather in Makkah attracts tourists, but appropriate organization of tourism programs and timely publicity campaigns are needed.  He said that if the Kingdom focuses on locations with winter tourism potential, it can have year round tourism activities.  The tourism expert noted that activities such as fishing festivals in the Farasan Island and car rallies in the northern region will certainly attract large numbers of tourists this winter.  He explained that most of the events remain local because of poor publicity, and if more tourism events were organized in the winter more employees would take their vacations during this time.
