The Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia and the national airline Garuda have launched a new program "Indonesia Air Pass" to encourage tourists to visit multiple destinations in Indonesia. Traditionally, tourists visit Jakarta and Bali and do not visit other cities spread across the Indonesian archipelago.
The proposed Indonesia Air Pass will encourage visitors to hop on board Garuda and visit multiple destinations in Indonesia for low cost. Other Indonesian airlines are also expected to join this program which aims at increasing both foreign as well as local tourist arrivals.
Garuda is taking delivery of 21 new aircraft in 2012 to expand its fleet and bring athentic Indonesian hospitality to more tourists. The Ministry of Tourism is expecting 8 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2012.
