The USAID-Jordan Tourism Development Project (JTDP) extended a grant on Wednesday to the Jordan Motorcycle Club in order to encourage inbound and outbound domestic tourism on motorcycles. The grant agreement will give visitors a different way to experience the Kingdom. Under the grant, the two organizations will work with regional motorcycle clubs to organize events and tours. The Jordan Motorcycle Club is operated by the Jordan Motorcycle Safety Foundation (JMA). The club will work with the US-based Motorcycle Safety Foundation to develop safety standards, including appropriate road behavior, and requiring motorcyclists to wear helmets.
Jordan has many winding scenic roads, away from major highways that pass archeological and natural sites. JMA Secretary General Raja Gargour said the Kingdom offers the perfect routes for motorcycle rides to highlight the country as an open air museum. He said “We have the most beautiful natural scenery on Earth. How better to see them than in the open air rather than in the confines of a bus or car?”
