Istanbul's Grand Bazaar still attracts shoppers even after 600 years

Istanbul_Grand_BazaarThe Grand Bazaar in istanbul was built more than 650 years ago but still attracts almost 500,000 shoppers every weekend. The more than 5,000 shops spread over 60 mini streets and alleys have on display a vast assortment of goods ranging from gold and silver jewelry to tiles and ceramics, carpets, candles, foodstuff, clothing, shoes and souvenirs.

In winter when outside temperatures in Istanbul hover around the freezing point - 0C to 5C - the hustle and bustle of the Grand Bazaar keeps you warm. A short break at one of the many cafe's in the bazaar brings welcome relief - afterall Turkish coffee is aimed at warming you up.

Remember, this is Istanbul and one of the oldest bazaars in the world and prices can be bargained. For more information on Istanbul click here.
