Dusit Thani Maldives, A touch of Thai in Paradise
Imagine a luxurious tropical resort framed by snow-white sandy beaches and lush palm fronds on Mudhdhoo Island in Baa Atoll - and discover the Dusit Thani Maldives.
Opened in February 2012, this lavish five-star resort is surrounded by a pulsating 360-degree coral reef with a turquoise lagoon and a verdant landscape. Secluded on the almost untouched Baa Atoll isle, Dusit Thani Maldives is 35 minutes by seaplane from the capital Malé, and 10 minutes by speedboat from the new domestic airport.
"We at Dusit Thani Maldives are looking forward to welcoming our guests to a blend of renowned Thai hospitality and stunning tropical surroundings," says the resort's Manager Mr. Niti Racharit.
The resort's 100 elegant and modern villas are styled with classic Maldivian woodwork and contemporary Thai architecture. All are complemented by state-of-the-art technology and luxurious amenities, including the new sustainable product lines from Molton Brown UK.
The Beach Villas (122sqm), some with private pools, overlook the beach with stunning lagoon views. Lagoon Villas with Pool (150sqm) offer the best of both worlds, with generous living space and impeccable detailing. The Ocean Villas with Pools (180sqm) feature a spacious deck, private plunge pool and large daybed. The exclusive two-bedroom Ocean Pavilions (370sqm) and Beach Residences (560sqm) present indulgent living with indoor and outdoor dining facilities, and an expansive private swimming pool. All villas exude vivid designs equipped with modern amenities, such as a 46' LED satellite television with internet protocol, complimentary Wi-Fi internet access, a BOSE surround sound system, and an in-room bar, choices of wine, wine chiller, Nespresso machine as well as tea and coffee facilities.
Exquisite cuisine served in a romantic setting is another highlight of Dusit Thani Maldives. The seaside Market brings Continental delights to the Maldives with an array of à la carte selections, as well as a breakfast buffet and dinner served in a relaxing brasserie-style.
Overlooking the crystal blue ocean, the resort's signature Thai restaurant Benjarong serves authentic Thai flavours. The Sea Grill offers the best of the ocean alongside the highest quality imported steaks. Enjoy sunsets or simply stargaze from Sala Bar while talented bar artisans create innovative refreshments complemented by Asian tapas dishes. Sample poolside snacks or chill to music over evening cocktails at Sand Bar.
A paradise for snorkelers and divers, Dusit Thani Maldives is surrounded by a bustling coral reef that is the Maldives' first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, home to marine life including eagle rays, manta rays, a variety of turtle species and the endangered whale shark. A remarkable house reef wrapping entirely around the island allows guests to swim the 360-degree faroe reef system and three underwater caves alongside schools of banner fish, big-eye trevallys and other diverse marine life. This environment is home to everything from the ocean's gentle giants, whale sharks, to 'Nemo'- like clownfish and, with a little luck, even dolphins and turtles.
Guests who don't know their manta ray from their monkfish but would like to, can consult the island's onsite Marine Biologist Lauren Arthur, who invites "those who really want to take advantage of our unique site to explore the reef during both day and night. Guests may even join reef clean-ups and monitor sea turtle nesting habits whilst staying at the most beautiful resort in the Maldives."
Relaxation is always on hand at Dusit's long established award-winning Devarana Spa. Lining the treetops of the island's tropical rainforest, six of the elegant spa's eight treatment pods are "up in the air" offering a "heavenly" spa experience to guests from around the world. A comprehensive spa menu features a full range of massages and treatments such as the brand's famous "Devarana Signature massage" and the exclusive massage treatment known as the "Abhyanga Massage." The spa is also well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as relaxation area, sauna, steam, hot & cold tub and plunge pool to ensure ultimate relaxation.
The concept of the Devarana Spa draws on authentic Thai healing therapies and western disciplines to offer a host of "East Meets West" treatments while using world-class products, fresh Thai herbs and indigenous ingredients from the island to create inspiring locally-influenced treatments. All treatments are performed by skilled Thai spa therapists to deliver an authentic Thai spa experience in keeping with Thailand's legendary hospitality.
To get the most from the experience, guests can also work up a sweat in a fully-equipped fitness studio with personal trianer available, play a few sets on the lit tennis courts, re-balance their minds and bodies with the resort's resident yogi, browse the island's boutiques, or unwind by the infinity swimming pool, the largest in the Maldives!
Dusit Thani Maldives is a child-friendly resort, a perfect place for creating wonderful family merories. The team at the kids club Baan Sanook encourage young explorers to discover local culture via an exciting and stimulating kids' activities programme.
