Abu Dhabi has been featured as one of the top ten cities in the world to visit in Lonely Planets 2010 travel guide. Lonely Planet’s “Best of Travel 2010”, released yesterday, is the travel company’s fifth publication of the annual list of best places to go and best things to do in upcoming year. Other cities in the top ten list are Charleston in the United States, Cork in Ireland, Cuenco in Ecuador, Istanbul in Turkey, Kyoto in Japan, Lecca in Italy, Sarajevo in Bosnia, Singapore, and Vancouver, Canada.
Adam Bennet, Communications Manager for Asia Pacific, described the guide as “a collection of destinations and experiences that we rate as the stuff people really should consider for next year.” The top ten countries in the Best of Travel 2010 were El Salvador, Germany, Greece, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Portugal, Suriname, and the United States. The top ten regions were Alsace - France, Bali – Indonesia, Fernando de Noronha - Brazil, Goa, - India, Koh Kohng Conservation Corridor - Cambodia, Lake Baikal - Russia, Oaxaca - Mexico, Southern Africa, The Lake District – England, and Southwestern Australia.
