Passenger traffic at Jordan airport grows

April 29 - Passenger traffic and aircraft movement at the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has gone up by 20.9 per cent and 13.9 per cent respectively in the first quarter of 2010 as compared to the same period last year, said the Airport International Group (AIG) yesterday. According to the details, passenger traffic hit 1,097,400 in the first quarter with March reporting a record number of traffic.
Meanwhile, aircraft movement hit 13,989. "QAIA is continuing its trend of impressive year-on-year growth and is steadily emerging as the airport of choice in the Levant region. Last year was challenging for the industry, but these results demonstrate the resilience of the Jordanian market," Curtis Grad, the chief executive officer of AIG, said. New routes, he said, along with an increased number of flight frequencies will be effective this summer.
