March 29- Kuwaiti-based Wataniya Airways has received delivery of its fifth A320 Airbus aircraft, it was announced in a press release, and will use the aircraft on its new Istanbul route slated to start on May 2. The carrier will fly to Istanbul thrice a week -- Sunday, Tuesday and Friday – making this Wataniya’s ninth destination and first European city since the airline was launched in January 2009.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Salam Al Bahar, Chairman and Managing Director of Wataniya Airways, said: "Istanbul is a historic center and a destination for culture through its wealth of arts, cultural diversity and its virtues of civilisation. We believe the launch of our new service brings many benefits for both Kuwait and Turkey and will continue to strengthen our long standing trade and tourism links.”
Meanwhile, the airline’s sixth Airbus aircraft is expected in June this year that will also be used on new routes that the airline will introduce.
