Christmas (25th December)
Christmas in Karachi is celebrated with much zest given the very small amount of Christian population in the city. The churches hold special mass services and they are always crowded. Although the celebrations are nothing like the Western Christmas festivities, they still portray the significant Christian population of Karachi and the way they have evolved and adapted their functions to the local environment. The day is celebrated much like the Eid Day of the Muslims, though on a much smaller scale. In recent years there has arisen a trend of non-Christians celebrating Christmas. This is aimed at fostering positive relations between the many ethnic groups in Karachi. The activities usually take place in grand hotels, and may involve foreign missions and ambassadors.
