Eid al-FitrEid al- Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of the Shawwal, the tenth lunar month of the Muslim calendar. It is a day of great joy and rejoicing. People decorate their houses and wear new clothes and proceed to mosques for special Eid prayers. After that they visit friends and family and greet each other in the traditional way saying “Eid Mubarak” and embracing each other. The whole mood is a festive one with lots of special events in the city, attractions for children, fairs, fireworks, music and dancing. The festivities carry on for 3 days and visitors too get caught up in the spirit of Eid.
