When to go
Overall Italy is a warm and crowded country throughout summers so if you want to avoid the heat and enjoy a rather peaceful holiday, the best time to visit would be from April to June and late September to October as temperatures are usually mild and the crowds aren't as intense. August is considered to be the worst month as it gets uncomfortably hot, muggy and crowded. The summer rush really picks up by mid-June, and from July to mid-September the country abounds with visitors. Most attractions operate for shorter hours during winter or are closed for renovation from October to Easter.
