India International Trade Fair

ImageIt would not be wrong to say that the India International Trade Fair (IITF) is perhaps the most popular event of Delhi, being held on a massive scale at the fair grounds, Pragati Maidan. A major event for the business community, this fair has been held annually since the past  28 years. Major corporate houses from all over the world participate in this event. Besides promoting trade, it also serves as the launching pad for the latest products and services in the market. Immensely popular with tourists and locals alike, this fair gives them the opportunity to see India's growth in technology and manufacturing and to compare quality and prices between different companies. The fair displays a wide range of products and services including automobiles, textiles, kitchen and home appliances, sports goods, furniture and home furnishings, toys, telecommunication, coir products, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, etc.

 

The government of each and every state of India sets up a huge stall or pavilion which has the traditional look of that state. Industries, art and craft, traditions, etc of the state is showcased. Handicraft items of all the states are available at these pavilions and are definitely worth buying especially as they are reasonably priced and one can be sure of their authenticity. These make for perfect souvenirs to take back with you. Visitors can feast on  cuisine special to the state as well as enjoy cultural shows and songs and dances performed by people dressed in traditional attire.

 

The fair also sees the participation of manufacturers from over a hundred countries. These stalls are immensely popular and visitors buy goods in large numbers.
