One of the largest parks in Frankfurt, Palmengarten covers 50 acres and is a beautiful sight in every season, with seasonal blossoms and greenery everywhere. The Tropicarium consists of numerous varieties of tropical plants enclosed in a giant greenhouse and displayed according to climate and natural habitats like mangroves, desert, rainforest and monsoon. On the same property there are various glass houses that exhibit other plant and flower species. The Palemngarten is also one of the few horticulture sites in the world where newer species are developed and extinct ones are preserved.
Opening times vary according to seasons:
November – January: 9 am-4 pm.
March – October: 9 am- 6 pm.
Admission fees: adult 5 Euros, children 2 Euros.
Right beside the Palmengarten is the Grüneburg Park, which is open to the public free of charge. Frankfurters come here to bask in the sun on holidays and to enjoy picnics. Between these two parks is the Botanical garden which houses a wide variety of rare plant species.
