Health and Safety
Paris is a very safe city and one can easily travel around on foot, by bus or by the metro, however one must use common sense at all times to avoid any sort of unpleasantness. Petty theft is the most common crime and unsuspecting tourists are the main target. It is advised that tourists remain vigilant at all times so as to avoid harm to person and belongings. Some things to keep in mind are:carry minimum cash, hold on tight to your purse or bag as bag snatchers will make you an easy target, keep doors locked when traveling in a car and do not travel alone at night unless absolutely essential. Should any mishap occur, report to the police or the consulate/embassy of your country immediately. French law requires you to carry your identity papers on your person as they may be checked while driving or walking.
Should you fall sick, do not hesitate to seek medical assistance. French healthcare providers are well trained, efficient and compassionate.
